"No other woman has more right to sing the blues than she. A rollercoaster ride of child abuse, alcoholism and heartache, her thunderous lifestyle has often overshadowed the adroit musical career. Her latest album, The House Of Ill Repute, has earned her the best reviews of her career and harvested a whole new generation of fans." Paul Cleary, State.ie
Galway born Mary's life, as told in her autobiography, 'Bloody Mary', has manifested itself in amazing blues. On her albums you find heart shifting interpretations of classics by Peggy Lee, Billie Holiday, the Rollin Stones, Elvis Presley and Christy Moore and new compositions by Mark Nevin (Fairground Attraction) and Bob Geldof. Then, of course, there is her own powerful writing. Her lastest album, 'The House of Ill Repute' re-unites her with producer Erik Visser and is a moving mix of old and new, from the late Kirsty MacColl's 'Bad', to the salacious 'Pornography', and the barren (Celtic) rock of 'The Whore Of Babylon'.
It’s a solid blues sound – hear it on our big stage with her band Pat Fitzpatrick (keys) Rod Patterson (Basses) Connor Brady (Guitars) Petrt McKinney (Drums)
